About Us

Founded in 1974 as Community Action Against Rape (CAAR), Signs of Hope (SOH) began as the combined effort of Florence McClure and Sandra Petta, two women living in Las Vegas who were outraged by the lack of resources and respect for those affected by sexual support and resources they need to move through the process of healing.

    September 23, 2024

    Dear Signs of HOPE Community,

September marks both National Sexual Health Awareness Month and the start of Hispanic Heritage Month, two occasions that hold profound meaning for Signs of HOPE.

National Sexual Health Awareness Month encourages open dialogue and education around sexual health, promoting healthy lifestyles and empowering individuals to make informed choices. At Signs of HOPE, we are committed to empowering and educating the community in proactively protecting themselves and one another. With the help of our community partners, we strive to foster an environment where everyone can access the resources and support they need to prioritize their sexual health and well-being.

Hispanic Heritage Month celebrates the rich cultural contributions of Hispanic and Latino communities to our society. It’s a time to honor the histories, cultures, and achievements of Hispanic individuals who have positively shaped Signs of HOPE and beyond. Diversity is at the heart of Signs of HOPE, and this month provides a special opportunity to recognize and celebrate our Hispanic community.

As we recognize these important observances, let us continue to uphold our commitment to inclusivity, education, and support within the Signs of HOPE community. Together, we can create a more informed, supportive, and culturally rich environment for all.

    With gratitude,

    Kim Small
    CEO, Signs of HOPE

You’re Invited! Hope for the Holidays: A Night Out with News 3

Signs of HOPE is delighted to announce our 12th Annual Hope for the Holidays: Night Out with News 3! This event is being presented by our friends at Tao Hospitality Group Cares and will once again take place at Tao Nightclub at the Venetian Resort.

The annual Night Out with News 3, benefiting Signs of HOPE, is hosted by our wonderful community partners at News 3. The upcoming 12th annual event is an evening of hope and celebration in support of the resilience of survivors and their families.

Funds raised will directly impact our mission to provide comprehensive support and services to those affected by domestic and sexual violence in our community. Signs of HOPE relies on the generosity of donors, volunteers, and community partners to fulfill our mission.

Signs of Hope aligns with my commitment to providing compassionate, client-centered care, and I am excited to contribute to its impactful work.

    What brings you hope?
Witnessing the resilience and strength of survivors brings me hope. I am inspired by their courage to seek healing and the collective efforts of those who support them. Knowing that small acts of kindness and understanding can make a big difference keeps me hopeful for a more compassionate world.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, exploring new places in Las Vegas, and staying active through outdoor activities. I also love reading and continuously learning, especially about social justice, mental health, and wellness topics.

What three words would you use to describe yourself?
    Compassionate, dedicated, and resilient.
